Offset Invitation
The invitation design for "Offset," an exhibition featuring graduating graphic design students at FAU and showcasing their professional portfolios, is crafted as a three-panel gate fold. The decision to maintain a rectangular form was influenced by considerations for potential postage costs. Drawing inspiration from CMYK offset printing, the design incorporates low-opacity halftone dots with a subtle Gaussian blur to ensure a nuanced and non-disruptive appearance. The CMYK offset effect is applied to accentuate the exhibition name and website. The essential details, including the exhibition title, date, location, and website, are prominently featured in the large center panel, while secondary information such as designers and sponsors is featured on the left and right panels, respectively. The title is rendered in Franklin Gothic ATF Black to mitigate disorientation caused by the offset color effect, while the Gill Sans family is employed for its commonality in printing and legibility. The invitation is printed on matte paper to elevate the visual prominence of the halftone CMYK dots.
